Finally
got the WAPMD (Walker Audio Precision Motor Drive) set up and dialed
in.... .what has been reported in the past is absolutely true.
Musical drive has been
enhanced tremendously as has been silence/blackness between the notes.
The noise floor has dropped to a point I did not think the Scout was
capable of but the addition of the WAPMD has revealed many new nuances
in familiar music that were buried before. Channel precision is now
bordering on staggering as it is so focused that instrumental interplay
is so natural that following which ever instrument you want is child's
play!
As for the Absolute phase
switch...it DOES have an effect on the musical presentation! Who woulda
thunk but in one position the music is laid back and relaxed...in the
opposite phase the music takes on a midrange hardness that is easily
heard. Mind you..it is still excellent but the midrange is slightly
emphasized and treble purity is dropped down a notch or two. Frickin'
amazing!
..the WAPMD is just what the
Scout needed to launch it into the "upscale territory" of TT's.

"Just
wanted to send a note expressing how impressed I am with the Walker
Audio Precision Motor Drive and the (Valid Points) Super Tuning Kit I
have implemented in my system.
T
Anyway,
the combination of your 2 products has taken my system to levels I did
not think was possible."

"...I
can hear BIG differences when I flip the electrical phase switch on the Walker
Audio Precision Motor Controller that runs by Nott tt. That kind of blew my
mind, but it is real."

"Got
Walker's motor controller in the other day...It totally blows away the
Nottingham "Wave Mechanic" motor controller. Don't even ask me why. I
would have expected a nice improvement if I was listening to Lloyd's
controller versus the motor being plugged straight into the wall. But the
Nottingham controller is supposed to be pretty good...I was hoping for some
improvement with the Walker, even if only a minor improvement. Well, there ain't
nothin' minor about it. It's huge..." B.C.

"I
have to mention that the motor drive made a tremendous improvement in
the sound of my turntable. I am using an old Well Tempered record
player which I purchased in around 1990. My turntable is finally
giving me the sound I have been looking for, it sounds like music and
musicians. Excuse me, but my turntable "walks" all over my
CD player. Thank you." K.P.

"I
recently added a Walker Motor Controller to my rig and find that
accurate speed is possibly the most important feature in quality LP
playback...The difference with a speed/motor controller is so
immediately obvious, it's unbelievable. I not only helps the sound in
every way (detail, soundstage, dynamics and on & on) but, for me, it
helped tracking considerably as well."

"...With
the Walker, the soundstage is blacker and more spacious. Detail
retrieval and perceived dynamics are improved, probably as a direct
result of lowering the noise floor, and there is a relaxing quality to
the presentation that I never knew I was missing before...I previously
used VPI PLL, SDS and a PS Audio power generator to power the motor for
comparison. The Walker is no to any of these. As soon as I put the
Walker in, the other went in the for-sale pile."

"I've
been using Walker's $3000 top of the line motor drive for many years
now, can't live without it...I had the VPI SDS which is good but the
Walker is MUCH better in my system."
E-mail January 2003
"I
recently (bought) a Walker Precision Motor Controller for use with my Nottingham
Analog Hyperspace tt...I have to report an amazing improvement in my phono
reproduction. Bass lines are clearer, and maybe the bass extends down lower by a
few Hz, but most of all the midrange is greatly improved in the ability to
distinguish individual musical lines. Vocalists are never drowned out by their
accompaniment and, on the other hand, details of tympani are retrieved in a way
I have not heard before. High frequencies are sparkling. To sum it up, the
Precision Motor Controller makes good LPs sound more like a first-generation
master tape. I honestly don't know why it works so well but I am satisfied that
it does." L.M.

"What
can I say: WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! The two records I played were RCA recording of
Claude Bolling/Alexandre Lagoya Concerto for Classic Guitar and Jazz Piano and
Concord Jazz recording Top Drawer with George Shearing and Mel Torme. NEVER
have I ever heard some much detail, imaging and transparency were a whole new
experience. Mel Torme stood right out in the middle of the room singing, I
could almost touch him. I could rave on, -but won't."
