Issue 30 March 2007

"The differences (before and after) are fairly noticeable....the view is tighter and more controlled...positively impacted the timing discordance - bass and treble come and go in sync -...and the violins have stopped whining, thank goodness...The Talisman is revealing more information by getting rid of extraneous stuff - it's not fabricating or coloring anything...The Talisman demarcates instrument borders and introduces spaces...works as advertised...This one-two punch of Prelude (Record Cleaning System) wash followed by the Talisman delivers a knockout."

"...smoother and more natural, with more depth and airiness to the soundstage, plus a bit more bass definition. The kind of improvement that some people spend $1000 or more to obtain. Its like an upgraded cable or preamp which nudges your system to the next level. It also works on DVDs. DVDs look cleaner and more vivid, with noticeable overall picture clarity and definition, as well as sound...Try it. I bet you'll like it."                     Edward Momkus, Dagogo.com

Audiolics Anonymous Chapter 85 Nov. 2006

"...Many other products have been on the market to prevent this effect for both vinyl and digital, including various spray destaticizers, the Zerostat gun, the Bedini Ultraclarifier and the latest separate Furutech units for digital and vinyl. The Talisman is the first I believe to have an effect on both digital and vinyl. Plus, it also can be used to destaticize the transport tray and turntable platter at the same time....

With guests in the room its great to give a demo, as it appears that one is using a magic wand over the disc. Maybe I should use Mickey's costume from the Sorcerer's Apprentice when demonstrating its effect. The looks on their faces, especially with digital, when you stand in front of them, wave the wand and replay the disc are precious. Like with most agents that improve the reading of the disc, there is a smoothing of the sound, tightening of the bass and reduction of the high frequency stridency that 16-bit/44kHz digital is notorious for. The effect is somewhat more than one achieves using disc cleaning solutions, but both appear to be complementary as cleaning, especially with Lloyd's Ultra Vivid solution, followed by the Talisman tends to multiply the improvement.

Compared to my Bedini Ultraclarifier, the effect is significantly greater with the Talisman. There have also been a couple of discussions on the web from individuals who feel the effect is significantly better than what can be obtained with the Furutech unit, but I can't confirm this. Plus, they can only be used on either vinyl or digital and not on the platters. Interestingly, there is also an improvement in vinyl playback, with a decrease in pops and other noise on playback...at $199 per unit, it's a reasonably priced tweak for its affect, especially since it works on digital discs, vinyl, turntable platters and digital player mechanisms."

"The Talisman works...When you take two identical CDs, one played a few times to presumably be contaminated with residual magnetism and the other freshly Walkerized, the latter sounds a bit crisper, cleaner, deeper and opened up...

The Talisman strikes me as a device for the man who has everything... The Talisman is something he won't yet have. It does wipe off a fine sheet of gray from the music. And to use it takes all of 5 second. Badabeep, badaboop - leave the gun, take the cannoli. Next scene. Especially if you're in the habit of only playing select tracks and routinely go through a whole series of discs in one session, the Talisman is well worth your consideration. There is a demonstrable difference when you first cue up the demagnetized disc. It'll only set you back the price of 10 CDs. And it'll never wear out or break...

If your tweak wood still points upwards, put the Talisman on your Wanted list. It definitely works....I own the Furutech RD-2. I only use it for audiophile show-off demos. The Walker effect seems just a bit more pronounced than the Furutech."

"...definite improvement in transparency, sound staging and imaging, and harmonic rightness  with the Talisman...you'd have to be quasi deaf or adamantly unempirical to miss the benefits....I've reached the point where I don't listen to LPs on my Proscenium Black Diamond without using the Talisman, which I hereby dub 'Walker's Wonderful Wand'!  I wouldn't be caught dead without mine..."        David W. Customer Comments

Dealer Endorsement January 2008

"This thing works! The improvement is EXTRAORDINARY. Every shootout record, every potential Hot Stamper we play, is sure to get demagnetized from here on out. We cannot recommend this product any more highly!" Tom Port Better Records

Customer Letter January 2008

"I was simply jaw-dropping amazed at what a difference the Talisman made to my LPs, CDs, and DVDs, especially after applying your Ultra Vivid product..." SW

Customer Email September 2007

I was over B.P's place last night and heard the effects of the Talisman first hand and it wasn't subtle. We tried it on vinyl only as we didn't listen to anything else. The darn thing kept us up to 3:30 am. It was too late to drive home so I stayed over. Just to make sure we weren't imagining things, we threw on a record as soon as we got up this morning. Sure enough, the difference with and without the Talisman was still there. I'm not sure if it has magic powers or will bring me good luck but it definitely made every record we played sound different.

"I must admit that I was skeptical, but I too have a Walker Talisman and the thing really does work in my system. I first heard it in Lloyd's system, where he has everything so tweaked the effect is startling; it was a little more subtle in my system, but still noticeable to me. It is an excellent destaticizer, but what gets me about it is that it actually seems to make the music "flow" more naturally when I listen to a record than when I just use a Zerostat or carbon brush...". "You have done it, again, Lloyd!   The improvement to the sound of LPs reminds me of the “next generation” of cartridges (e.g., Lyra Helikon to Helikon SL).  So, on the analog side alone, the Talisman is a bargain...Best wishes, and thanks, again, for improving the sound of my system. L. S.

"...I owned the Furatech RD-2 demagnetizer...Last week, I received my Talisman on audition and proceeded to compare it with my reference. It didn't take long to decide the Talisman was superior...Overall, the Talisman works well for me. Other bonuses are that you don't need to plug it in or wait 15-20 seconds between zaps. Just rotate it over the both surfaces of a disc, as well as above and under the player's tray and you're done. I like it." AQ

"The Talisman has far greater impact whatever it is doing. I live with high humidity and really have to go to great ends to get any static build up. I have never heard any impact of the Zerostat since I left New York 28 years ago. The Furatech has an impact but nothing like the Talisman magnet." Norm

AudioAsylum Postings Sept. 9, 2006

"....found the Furatech just falls short of the coherency and quiet that the Talisman gives....bass also is far superior to that with Furatech treatment. The other benefit for me as I listen to my lps, is that the Talisman works with them..." Norm
